Training & Innovation

From investing in our park and embracing new ideas to supporting career progression and specialist staff training, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience we provide for our guests, owners and team.

New patio, access barrier and resurfaced roads at The Beach Caravan Park

Innovation and Improvements on Park

We continually invest in The Beach Caravan Park to improve maintenance, modernisation and the experience for our guests, owners and team.

Recent projects include upgrading our access barrier system, with enhanced emergency access introduced in summer 2026. Ahead of the 2026 season, we also created a new patio and improved our outdoor hospitality space, giving guests and owners an even better place to relax, dine and spend time together.

Safety remains a priority too. Through fundraising at park events, our community is helping to fund a second defibrillator for the top of the park, improving access to this potentially life-saving equipment.

Alongside these larger projects, we continue to update our facilities, systems and equipment to create a safer, more efficient, sustainable and enjoyable environment for everyone who stays, owns or works at The Beach.

Reception team member with Welsh-language visitor content

Parks Make Places

A brilliant holiday park should help visitors connect with the destination beyond its gates. Members of our team have completed the Conwy Ambassador Scheme, strengthening their knowledge of the area so they can confidently recommend local attractions, destinations, businesses and experiences throughout North Wales.

In 2026, Thornley Leisure Parks and The Beach also began introducing Welsh-language content across our central social media channels. This marks the first stage of a wider commitment to making our visitor communications more inclusive and more reflective of the language, culture and identity of North Wales.

By sharing local knowledge and celebrating the character of our destination, we can help guests make more of their stay while supporting the wider visitor economy.

Staff training and career development at The Beach Caravan Park

Staff Training

We are committed to helping our team develop their skills, progress in their careers and deliver an excellent guest experiences. At The Beach, gas engineer Ryan’s progression from groundsman to qualified engineer is one example of this commitment, supported by a company investment in professional qualifications. Park Manager, Chris, also completed the same qualifications earlier in his career.

We also welcome one work placement student each year, giving young people the opportunity to gain valuable experience within the holiday park industry.

Alongside role-specific qualifications, our team regularly takes part in additional training. In 2026, this included customer service training, holiday home sales training with Ruth Badger Consultancy, mental health training through HARPA, and child exploitation awareness training delivered by the North Wales Police Task Force Manager. Together, these opportunities help our team grow professionally while strengthening the safe, welcoming and knowledgeable service we provide.

Get to know our Team

I've been lucky enough to work as reception manager at The Beach Caravan Park for the past 13 years. Every day is different, from arranging holidays and welcoming guests to the park to helping with enquiries and making sure everyone has the best possible experience. One of my favourite parts of the job is organising and hosting our owners' events throughout the year. I love planning everything from the food and entertainment to creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere where everyone can enjoy themselves. I'm also incredibly fortunate to work with the sea right outside my window, surrounded by beautiful flowers. The view from my desk is truly breathtaking, and even after all these years, it's something I'll never take for granted. I feel very privileged to be part of such a special place.
Mel Hilton, Reception Manager
I started at Thornley Leisure Parks 3 years ago. I began full time on the grounds at The Beach Caravan Park but shortly after I showed interest in gas engineering and I was lucky enough that they put through my qualifications. Thornley Leisure Parks have been huge for my career and I love working for them, it’s like working with a big group of family and friends.
Ryan Roberts, Gas Engineer
I have been with the company full time for 25 years. I started with a season glass collecting, then started full time on the grounds then progressed to gas engineer and now general manager. They have been great to work for and put me through all my qualifications. It’s like being part of a big family.
