Thornley Leisure Parks Take on the Dragon Boat Challenge for St David’s Hospice!
This year, the Thornley Leisure Parks team stepped out of the office or parks and onto the water to take part in the Dragon Boat Race in support of St David’s Hospice.
Thornley Leisure Parks Paddle to Success at the Dragon Boat Race for St David's Hospice
On Saturday 20th June, Team Thornley swapped desks, parks and holiday homes for paddles as we took part in the St David’s Hospice Dragon Boat Race on the beautiful waters of Llyn Padarn.
After a fantastic day of racing, teamwork and fundraising, we’re delighted to share that Team Thornley finished 6th out of 13 teams, a result we’re incredibly proud of considering many of our team members had never stepped into a dragon boat before!
A Day to Remember
The Dragon Boat Race brought together local businesses, organisations and community groups for a fun-filled day of friendly competition, all while raising vital funds for St David’s Hospice.
With plenty of determination, teamwork and encouragement from supporters on the shoreline, Team Thornley battled through the heats and gave it everything on the water, winning our first two races of the day.
While we may not have taken home the trophy, finishing in the top half of the leaderboard was a fantastic achievement and a testament to the effort of everyone involved.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our colleagues, owners, holiday guests, suppliers, friends and family, Team Thornley exceeded our original fundraising target of £1,000, raising an amazing £1,275 for the charity.
The funds will help St David’s Hospice continue providing specialist care and support to patients and families across North Wales when they need it most.
