Caravans and Staycations are our Family Business

Before the idea of purchasing their first Holiday Park, Bill and Dorothy Thornley had Touring Caravans.  They were working long hours running a bakery in Cheshire and initially had their touring caravan as their Happy Place. They would travel from Congleton over to the The Morfa in Conwy in their time off – this was before the A55 so the journey was significantly longer!  Their love of North Wales made them decide to relocate to the area, initially setting up a bakery in Conwy.

The 2nd Generation

When Bill and Dorothy had their children – the Touring caravan provided the much needed family time that they lacked in their careers as Bakers.

When the opportunity arose to purchase Craiglwyd Hall Caravan Park in 1962, they decided to turn their hobby into their family business – a decision they never regretted.

Since then the business has grown to operate 10 Holiday Parks, throughout North Wales, Mid Wales, Cheshire and Yorkshire

The 3rd Generation

Growing up, caravans were a big part of our daily lives.  The Holiday Parks were discussed at the kitchen table, and on the weekends and in school holidays we would often accompany Dad to his office which was based at Craiglwyd Hall Caravan Park in Penmaenmawr.  The best bit was being allowed to play in the games room on the machines whilst they were shut.

We had a caravan at Ocean Heights Caravan Park near Pwllheli and would go every Easter and Summer holiday to spend quality time with our family.  For us, caravans and our parks will always be about that – providing families with much needed quality time away from the hustle and bustle of the normal daily routine, to Escape, Relax & Enjoy.

Whilst many of our friends had a “Wendy House” in their gardens – we had a miniature touring caravan!
