National Dog Walking Month! Top Dog-Friendly Walks in North Wales

 

North Wales has plenty on offer when it comes to walks. Whether you are looking for serene sea views, breathtaking mountain adventures, or enchanting woodlands, you will find exactly what you are looking for here in North Wales. January is National Dog Walking month, and here at Thornley Leisure Parks, we firmly believe that dogs are a part of the family. Here are our favourite dog friendly walks;


Conwy Mountain (Circular)

Distance: Approximately 6 miles. (3.6 Miles from Craiglwyd Hall)
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging.
Discover the breathtaking views of Conwy and Snowdonia with this stunning walk. This is a beautiful area for a walk at any time of year, but particularly when the hills are covered in heather. A very popular route for keen walkers and their furry companions. Dogs must be kept on leads.

Llyn Peninsula Coastal Path

Distance: Variable, choose a section that suits you.
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.
Discover the coastal beauty of the Llyn Peninsula with miles of coastline, a fresh sea breeze, and panoramic views. Choose from a range of walks to suit your ability and time frame. While all walks are dog friendly, make sure to check whether your furry friend can roam free or should be kept on a lead on your chosen path.

Aber Falls

Distance: Approximately 2 miles – Distance from Craiglwyd Hall, 8.3 Miles.
Difficulty: Easy.
Set out on a relatively easy trail leading to the stunning Aber Falls near Abergwyngregyn. Discover the beautiful, dramatic waterfall that Aber Falls has to offer. The surrounding woodlands and meadows create an ideal space for dogs to explore, making this walk a delightful experience for both you and your pooch!

Bodnant Garden

Distance: Various paths, customisable to your preference. – Distance from Maenan Abbey, 2 Miles.
Difficulty: Easy.
Bodnant Gardens is a magical place where well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. With year-round colour, the garden can be whatever you want it to be, whether that’s a hive of activity or a haven of tranquillity and relaxation, this is truly a special place for all ages.



Hiraethog Trail at Llyn Brenig

Distance: Approximately 6 miles – 19.5 Miles From The Beach Holiday Park
Difficulty: Moderate.
Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the circular trail around Llyn Brenig, situated in the heart of Denbigh Moors. Well-maintained paths and the peaceful surroundings of the reservoir and woodlands make this a relaxing and enjoyable outing for the whole family, including the pup!

Dolgellau to Barmouth Mawddach Trail

Distance: Approximately 9 miles – 35 Miles From Ocean Heights
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate.
Looking for a long, leisurely walk? Why not check out the Mawddach Estuary between Dolgellau and Barmouth. This route is mostly free of traffic and is easily navigable. Spanning a width of at least 3 meters for most of the route, this path is ideal for walkers, cyclists, and wheelchair users.

Newborough Warren

Distance: Variable, explore as much as you like – 25 Miles From Dinlle
Difficulty: Easy.
Venture to the coastal gem of Newborough Warren on the Isle of Anglesey, offering sandy beaches, dunes, and woodlands. This dog-friendly delight provides an ideal space for your pup to explore the shoreline and hidden trails.

Fairy Glen, Betws-y-Coed 

Distance: Approximately 1 mile – 7.5 Miles From Maenan Abbey
Difficulty: Easy.
Looking for a magical adventure along the Conwy River? Fairy Glen is the route for you! With waterfalls and scenic bridges, this route is ideal for the whole family. Dogs are welcome to explore this fairytale setting, and the gentle trails make it a delightful stroll for both you and your furry friend.
